At Ménilmontant Hill

Menilmontant is located on the hills in the northeast of Paris, an area that was once covered with vineyards. Until it was incorporated into the city of Paris in 1860, it was exempt from the goods entry tax, which led to the establishment of many dance halls and taverns. Even now, many young people live there, and it is also a location for film shoots. The exhilarating view from this town, overlooking central Paris, must be exceptional. Yasushi Okubo's works bring a sense of mental liberation to viewers through his paintings, and indeed, in this piece as well, one can gaze at the beautiful Parisian city at sunset through buildings set at complex angles.
