Banks of the Seine

鹿子木孟郎 KANOKOGI Takeshirou

The season is considered to be early summer. From the trees painted with rough brushstrokes and random strokes, and the meadows swaying like waves, one can feel the refreshing breeze of early summer. In particular, the rough expression of the trees shows the influence of Corot, a central painter of the Barbizon school. In addition, bluish shadows fall on the buildings in the background, and multiple shades of green are used in the shade of the trees, accurately capturing the colors of the light. This is a work that demonstrates Kanogaki's attitude during his stay in Europe, trying to learn widely from the Old Masters to the Impressionists.
