灯台のある建物の敷地に入るための門が真正面から捉えられている。人気がなくひっそりと時がとまったかのような感覚になる。側面にもグレート青の絵具が塗られているが表面の絵柄と異なる。表面のマチエールが側面の絵柄と合致するところがあるため、最初に別の題材を描き、その後上から現在の風景を上書きしたものと思われる。仕上げに蝋を加えたのだろうか。乾性油を多く使った場合とは異なる鈍い光沢と透明感がみられる。

The gate leading to the lighthouse building grounds is captured head-on. It is deserted and quiet, giving the impression that time has stood still. The sides are also painted with great blue paint, but it is different from the pattern on the surface. In some places the surface texture matches the pattern on the sides, suggesting that a different subject was painted first, and then the current landscape was painted over it. Perhaps wax was added to the finish. There is a dull luster and transparency that is different from that seen when a lot of drying oil is used.
