This work is classified as a kabuki-e (actor print) ukiyo-e. Next to each role's name is the name of the actor. The rich red used in the background enhances the actors' presence. Tokiwa Gozen became the concubine of Taira no Kiyomori and the wife of Ichijo Naginari. The couple, Kijiro and Okyo, who have feelings for the Genji, infiltrate Tokiwa Gozen's side to uncover her true intentions. However, what they see there is Tokiwa Gozen playing with a bow. Kijiro criticizes her, but it becomes clear that hidden under the target is a portrait of Taira no Kiyomori, and she was praying for the subjugation of the Taira clan. Her husband, Ichijo Naginari, was a foolish person, but that was an act; he actually carried the blood of the Genji and also had feelings for the Genji.
