KOJIMA Zenzaburo
Rose

He first sketches with charcoal or Conté and then paints over it, but he also uses charcoal or Conté to draw the outlines during the process. Looking at the side of the canvas, you can see that the layer beneath the yellow-green background is painted light blue. It may be that he originally intended to paint the painting against a light blue background. By using similar colors, such as yellow and yellow-green for the background and yellow and brown for the vase mat, he achieved a sense of unity and vividness, and further enhanced visibility by effectively using outlines in places. This is a work that was carefully considered in terms of color.
