斎藤豊作 SAITŌ Toyosaku
Still Life

toyosaku Saitō married the French female painter Camille Salanson, and in 1919 they established their residence in an old castle in Vénouvelle, Sarthe, about 300 kilometers from Paris. This work was created after their relocation. It carefully observes the shapes and expressions of fruits, which, being natural objects, are all different, and the colors the fruits cast in the shadows under soft light, as well as the background with a quiet atmosphere, bring a sense of unity to the entire composition.
